What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a state of inner absorption, concentration and focused attention. When our minds are concentrated and focused, we are able to use them more powerfully. We've all experienced trances in one form or another. An example of this is when were absorbed in thought; while reading a book, playing an instrument, involved in a sport. We're absorbed and not paying attention to what is happening around us. While we're in this space, our unconscious mind takes over. These experiences are a form of hypnosis though we don't realize it.

How Does Hypnosis Work in a Session?

I facilitate the client to get into a relaxed state generally through breath and then by encouraging the use of imagination through mental and guided imagery, allowing a state of deep relaxation or trance. Ideas or suggestions that are compatible to the patient are presented and through this concentrated attention and desire, it appears to have a powerful impact on the mind. Hypnosis avoids the critical thoughts of the conscious mind. Hypnosis is safe; you won't lose control; and you're able to stay in a state of consciousness and remember what occurred during the session.
People leave the session renewed, energized, confident and hopeful. Hypnosis is most effective when listening to a recording daily or employing self-hypnosis. Learning self-hypnosis a few minutes a day can improve health and happiness.

Deep relaxation creates an internal environment in which to facilitate emotional equilibrium. Observing sensations from a neutral stance allows an awareness that opens up mindfulness (in this case with a focus on sensations in the fingers). This induction is designed to give an overall sense of well-being and relaxation to release any daily stress or concerns. While focusing on internal strengths and a state of calm while incorporating a sense of centeredness and grounding. It also utilizes the resources that we have readily available to us, which is right at our fingertips.

“It is really amazing what people can do. Only they don't know what they can do.”

-Milton Erickson
